Paris--Dec. 12--France's October current account surplus narrowed sharply to 0.732 billion euros from 2.096 billion euros in September, according to seasonally-adjusted data issued by the Finance Ministry (see table .6666). The smaller than expected October surplus was due to strong import growth amid firm domestic demand causing a deficit in the goods payment account.
